Trip to Michigan

We got back from visiting Shawn and Lisa in Michigan. Lisa and Shawn were shocked when I told them that I was planing to visit and even more shocked when I actually booked the plain ticket. They never thought that I would actually make it out for a visit. That could be because I have never gone out to visit them no matter where they lived since they have been married. Plus right now I am 7 months pregnant traveling without my husband with an 18 month old and I also took my 4 1/2 year old nephew Gavin. Needless to say that at the airport I got a few looks, I could not make out weather they were looks of sympathy or thoughts of how crazy I must be. I am glad that I decided to take Gavin, he was a great traveler, and helped entertain Ayden, plus it gave me an extra seat so Ayden had more room to move around. Gavin is a great traveler but not that great when it comes to being sympathetic. He is a very particular child and gets grossed out very easily, at the landing of the plain ride out there I got sick and ended up throwing up into one of the barf bags. Luckily there was a nice women sitting by me that held Ayden while I pucked. When I was done I looked over to Gavin and he had a disgusted look on his face and said "Why did you do that? DON'T do it again! It GROSSED me out!" I love the things that come out of that kids mouth! They are always so funny.

We had a great time while there. Gavin and Keeley entertained each other and were not ready to part at the end of the week, Gavin kept asking if we could bring Keeley home with us. Ben and Ayden were interesting to watch together. They acknowledge each other but do not quite understand how to interact. They both always wanted the others toy. They also both had a habit of hitting. after Ayden spent a few days in constant time out he finally figured out that he should stop hitting except when defending himself or a toy he had, Ben however preferred the hit a run method when ever he had he opportunity. I picked up Ben to show Lisa how Ayden reacts when I hold another child. He immediately started screaming and crying like he was going to die. When I put Ben down Ayden stopped crying but then felt it was necessary to go and cuss out Ben for letting me hold him. Lisa found it very entertaining and wished me luck with the new baby. To my joy by the end of the trip Ayden stopped freaking out when I would hold Ben. I have hope! Ben is Huge and boy that kid can eat. He is such a cutie and I loved seeing him and Ayden together. It is so nice that he has a cousin his same age.

Shawn was amazing while I was there and he watched the kids all the time so that me and Lisa could spend some time together. He probity put Ayden to sleep more than I did when we were there. I have such a great brother in law! Thanks Shawn for your hospitality and baby sitting skills. It was also nice to spend some one on one time with Lisa, I cant remember the last time we have been able to do that. If only she loved us enough to live by us instead of Shawn's family. They just bought a beautiful new home, so I don't think that our family should keep much hope that they will ever be moving closer. Thank you Lisa and Shawn for showing us a great time. We love you and look forward to seeing you in November

Julee, Dear.
Your airplane traveling abilities come directly from your mother. Gavin's special ability to empathize with the "gross" display of a stomach being emptied comes directly from his Grandpa Shumway.
Keep on flying, and take especially good care of my new little granddaughter to be. Love, Dad
